Since the beginning, I’ve wanted to know why, where did it come from and what else? People, when given the relevant information, will care so much more about what's in front of them. To me, food represents a window into the richness of whatever has helped it come to be - the place, the cook, the past, the present. It's so much more than just sustenance. It's the beginning of a story. 

Francie Pie tries to remember these things while exploring what’s behind our food, with lenses each for history, food policy, agriculture, food science, nutrition, and above all delicious food.

My recipes are all vegetarian, sometimes vegan, sometimes gluten-free, and I use natural, whole foods wherever possible with natural sweeteners and alternative flours for baking. Occasionally though, as with real life, these rules fly right out the window.
